The latest version of the popular Url Master software was released earlier this week, to coincide with the DNN 5.1 Release.

The new version is fully compatible with DNN 5.1, and introduces the exciting new feature of 'Vanity' User Profile Urls.   This feature means that you can setup simple, short username or display name based Urls for any module that has a User Profile component. 

This feature is suitable for modules such as the DNN Forums, the Smart Thinker social networking suite, Active Social, and just about any other DNN module that has a User Profile page ; you can even set it up so the 'user' link in DNN leads to a simple, short url : showing /display_name rather than /home/tabid/36/ctl/profile/userid/34/default.aspx

You can setup the user profile Url to work with any page in your site, and you can choose between using the DNN username, or the DNN display name.  You don't even need to worry about making Display Names unique : if a duplicate is found, the newer version will degrade into a less-friendly but still improved Url.  Configuring the functionality is just a couple of clicks - nothing extra to install, no config file editing.

But that's not all that's in this new release, here's some other great new features;

- totally remove the extension from your Urls : no trailing /, no .aspx : just the plain old Url
