So I discovered today what no doubt hundreds already know...DNN 494 Souce package is broken but I guess thats OK. After all the link I discovered to fix it is dated 6/5/09 http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/160/threadid/309535/scope/posts/threadpage/2/Default.aspx  and so I guess things like this are to trivial to deal with anymore?

So what was wrong with just replying to that thread?

Hello,

First, why is that package still linked at codeplex and second, once installed I got a bunch of different javascript errors most notably every time I hove over any menu item. I tried reinstalling using the "typical" install and got the same result. I really don't know what to make of this, I have been using DNN for years but I am guessing the overall quality may be slipping or their focus is on commercial.

I think it is interesting that 1) this is a real problem, not just somthing I am doing wrong -and- 2) very few users seem to care. Why is that; because everyone has gone to 5.x? I thought 4.x was suppose to be the "stable" version?

Personally, I haven't touched the 494 source version. Absolutely no need to. You can do all your development against the INSTALL package, unless for some reason you want/need to make changes to the source package.

Why hasn't it been "fixed"? DNN 4 is pretty much done, all the work is on 5.1+ now.

I don't believe it's a matter of there being a commercial version available or not.
