I'm guessing you already clicked the upgrade framework button at some point when you were running DNN5.0.

I'm also guessing you might just need to extract the System.Web.Extensions.dll from the 5.0 package and restore it in the ~/bin directory. During the upgrade in 5.1 they automatically upgrade to the latest framework and remove the dll again. I think they didn't add enough checks around the 5.0.0 and 5.0.1 bugs with the manual framework upgrade button that was in the host settings prior to 5.1...

Hopefully that gets you going again, if not let us know and we'll give you something else to try...

Oliver,

Of course I did not click the upgrade framework button.  That would have been too easy.  I downloaded the upgrade package, copied it over and tried installing it.

There is no system.web.extensions.dll in the /bin directory of either the DNN install or the unzipped upgrade.

Oliver,

Thanks.  I misread your post about getting the file out the 5.0 install package and not the 5.1.  It seems like a lot of people are going to have this problem

Thanks again.

Mike
