It seems that on all our dnn installs (4.9.4) if you search using a term that is less than 5 characters it will not return anything, even if it's a valid search term.  5 characters and up is fine.  Is there a place to set the search term minimum length?

actually, after further digging, the search is working with 4 character words.  It still can't find this term though.  The term that is being searched is 'crhp' which is short for Christ Renews His Parish.  CRHP appears in numerous text modules on numerous pages but the search is not picking it up.  Is it because it's not an actual word and instead an acronym?  It would seem silly for it not to include CRHP when it is obviously used throughout the site.  Is there anyway to force this term in the indexing?

Thanks

mschepker-
This forum thread is probably lagging behind where you are on similar Twitter conversations by now but...

DNN doesn't care what the contents of a word are.  It will index the character sequence "zxcvb" as quickly as "amazon".

Limitations
DNN search does not support phrases.  You can search for "Microsoft" or for "Word" but you cannot search for "Microsoft Word".  Actually, you CAN search for "Microsoft Word" but it treats the search as "Microsoft OR Word".  If you include the phrase in quotes your search term will be translated to:  "Microsoft Word"

By default, DNN search also does not support substring searches.  This means a search for "code" will not return results for "coder", "codes", etc.

Happily, substring searches can be easily enabled with a tweak of the stored procedure "GetSearchResults".  That tweak is detailed here:

Regarding the failure of "CRHP" to be indexed, I can't say that there is any bug or flaw I know of in DNN Search that would prevent that acronym from being indexed.  I have been similarly dissapointed with DNN search often enough to have switched to Google AJAX search for DNN sites with public content.  I posted an example for swapping the DNN search skin object for a custom Google AJAX search here:

   http://googleAJAXsearch.com

DNN search is very useful on a number of fronts but, for basic web page content searches, I find it still leaves much to be desired compared to the performance and results users are used to via Google.

yeah, I read the entry on substring searches, but we have two issues with that.  I am not knowledgeable in sql and do not want to mess with stored procedures and we have many sites that this would need to be changed on, not to mention changed again when an upgrade occurs.
