CSS Help  Modified By Greg Brown on 7/9/2009 12:02:43 AM

I've had this problem several times. Hopefully someone has the answer.

Just put a site map module on a page, put three new classes in my skin.css file, and told the module to use those classes. Everything works except if the item is a hyperlink - then it always uses the A:link class in the skin file. Even though I've assigned a different class to the item.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT:  Walked away from it for awhile, came back and saw my error.

Just for the benefit of others, links will default to the a:link etc settings in the skin.css.  If you have a special class for something and want to have different style settings for that class when it's a link, you set up a new class in the skin.css to target just that class like:  ".yourclass a:link" ".yourclass a:hover" or "a.yourclass:hover" etc depending on how you are using the class in your content.  Using this, you can set different style settings like login links to be smaller/larger font etc from the regular links.

Thanks for your reply and help Rick!

I figured it out by looking at style sheets from different skins. Teaching yourself can sometimes be difficult. Thankfully we have this forum and people such as yourself willing to help us out!

Ok, I've got just about all of it done with one exception.

When I make a page disabled the link is defaulting to some other CSS class. In the DNN minimal extrocopy skin I saw a class called .normaldisabled so I tried adding that class to my skin css - that didn't work. I'm now wondering if it is defaulting to the . commandlink class.

Any ideas?

Tried adding   a.ParentMenu:disabled   to my ParentMenu class but that didn't work either.
