Q:  How do i get it to allow anonymous users to post events and have those events approved by an admin once they're submitted. Anonymous users wouldn't have the ability to edit events??

I got it where a anonymos user can post an event but they have full rights to edit and del them too...I just need them to be able to post and thats it.

any ideas??

I don't think you can separate the create and edit permissions with the current version of the Events module. It looks like you might be able to achieve what you want using the Appointment Wizard module from DNN Specialists. I haven't tried this myself, but they have a free trial, so it should be pretty easy to see if it will do what you need before buying.

Good luck!

I'm suprised you managed to get it so anonymous users can add events, since that isn't strictly support. Certainly there is no way to limit them to be only abale to edit events they have added, because logically since they are anonymous there is no way to identify which events are theirs.

I'll have at the logic to see what is going on, such that you are able to post. Just as a matter of interest what version of the module are you using, and how have you configured the module permissions to allow anonymous users to add events?

Thanks
Roger

Well..I had it setup where anyone can edit the module but that would make it where anyone can del or change as well a add. Im not much of a programmer so i dont know how to get in to the soruce to change anything.  I'm building a site for the town i live in and im needing an event cal to show whats events are going on in town but i need it to allow anyone to submit something and i can approve it or change it.

do you know a module that will meet my needs??

Thanks,

Mark

Thanks Ray for the reponse...but it will not work..heres why:

DNN Specialists has replied to your question about Appointment Wizard (05.00.00)(New)
Question:
Does your event module support posting of new events by anonymous users? What I'm looking for is to allow anonymous users to post events and have those events approved by an admin once they're submitted. Anonymous users wouldn't have the ability to edit events - just to add. If this is possible, is there a demo of this feature?

Answer:
The Appointment Wizard Module is not an Events Module per se, but a wizard that allows anonymous users to schedule appointments and post them as events in the events module. The information gathered in the wizard is relevant to appointments only. For instance, the duration of the appointment (read event) is fixed by the administrator, and so is the days and times in which appointments can be scheduled. The title of the event posted is the name of the person scheduling the appointment, and collected in the second step of the wizard. Regards, DNN Specialists.
Thank you,
Snowcovered team
