Thank-you for your well thoughtout reply.  I tested images and modules to see if they were causing the problem. I created blank test pages and worked on the code testing the parameters of the display setting. The designer told me not to delete any of the lines below. If I understand you correctly keeping the first line may be the cause of the problem.

.template_style{width:980px; margin:0 auto;padding-bottom: 5px;}

.template_styleWide{width:90%; margin:0 auto;padding-bottom: 5px;}

I think things are working better now  -- one of the fixes was to change the display setting on the old monitor to the next level above 1024. Overall the site does look awesome. The admin at my school was speechless when she saw the site. Not often happens. :-)  As would have it when things start moving well along a new display problem has cropped up and I am at a loss. i created users for the site. When I logged in as one of the users the home page suddenly stretches across the screen as wide as can be. Just the opposite of the original problem when the display moved right and a large black area was on the left.  The rest of the site displays normally.  Hope you can help. Thanks in advance for your help.

I replyed to this post a little while ago. I asked about a display problem when the user logs in.

I know what the problem is -- The page resizes when it is in edit mode. The user logs out when in edit mode --the next time user logs in the home page will be resized wrong. Not the whole site -- just the home page.  I have users who edit modules and will blog and use forums etc. How can I avoid this resize?

Thanks again in advance.

Ann

I understand that the skin resizes to a larger size when in edit mode.  BUT

My site looks great on my home computers except for an older 17 flat screen. I tried the site on  the computers at school, family etc. The site stretches to the right whether I an using a package skin or the DNN skins. I tried editing the CSS. It did not fix the stretch to the right problem, if anything it made the matter worse. Everything gets bigger. I am at a loss.

I am using DNN 5.1  and Navigation Suite 1.4.6 (All in ONE Menus) & Skins -- the colors are awesome and the site has the look I was going for in the design. I don't want to change packages and I don't think the package is the problem because the same thing happens no matter what I am using.  The package designer has given me a few suggestions for the CSS -- very standard according to everything I have read.

What am I missing here? Something in the installation? Did I select an install variable incorrectly? Has anyone else experienced this problem? Shoud I try a few more packages to see if one works. That can get expensive!

School starts in 3 weeks -- got to get this resolved! Running out of time.  Running out of ideas...

Thank-you so much for your post. I started thinking about the images on the site. I used an image I did not create. I assumed it was the correct size.  I should have known better!!  Never Never assume anything. The banner was way too big! It was from the old site and I had not got around to the redesign of the school banner and logo.

I am using Navigation Suite 1.4.6 (All in ONE Menus) & Skins -- the colors are awesome and the site has the look I was going for in the design. Have a few tweeks to make but the site blows you away.  Elementary schools bright colors.  The children will enjoy it.

Even though this took a few days to sort out it was a great learning experience.   (teacher talking --look out)

Kind regards,

Ann

You appear to have included some images above, but they are not displaying.  From your description I am unable to picture the problem in a way that I can suggest a solution or direction.  Can you please provide a link so I/we can see the site and get a handle on the issue(s) you are facing?
