Hi,

We have purchased a skin online and tried to that to our own site and as we wanted our own design we want to build new skin by using the knowlegde of the old one.

Please let me know how to create new one.

Hi Anjana

You can find your installed skin under Portal folder  like portal/0/_defalut/yourskin folder.  you can do one thing make copy of same folder on same place and rename that newly copied folder as you desired. In that folder there are some .ascx , css file you can start directly editing these file as you want. Now you will able find these folder in skin dropdown where you can apply this skin.

HI,

Thank You for the reply. I also have one more thing to be clarified ... that is i can see the .ascx file(Only one or two) and in that file they have referenced different .ascx files which are like Search, login MENU's (.ascx) files and i can not see them in that folder i have....So, How would i make changes to  those files to be used ...

I mean can i find those files anywhere or i can create them on my own?

please let me know.

Have you looked at the skin.css file that was part of the skin package? Most of the look and feel that you are trying to obtain can probably be revised in there.

Otherwise, the files you mention are most likely in the /admin folder off of the site root. For example, the search entry in the ascx file will reference "Src="~/Admin/Skins/Search.ascx." Be mindful that to edit most of these files will stray from the core file, so be careful when upgrading the site as these same files might be overwritten when you perform the upgrade.
