even if I want to do something extremely simple like, say show picture1.jpg vs. picture2.jpg based on something I look up in a database?

Do I really have to make a new custom module every time I just want to add a little bit of code to a page?

Thank you...

Accepted Answer

Allowing for server side scripting inside a module would bear an enormeous risk for your site and it's data.

ok, thank you very much for the answer.

At least I can stop wondering if my ire with dnn is undeserved, and I can stop fruitlessly searching google.

I appreciate your time. :)

Actually, you can do quite a bit using the Reports module.  It supports XSLT output which allows you to run a custom db queries and then display that data using XSLT template.  Reports Version 5.1 supports the use of XSLT extensions which allows you to call .Net code from XSLT.  This further opens up the power of XSLT for integrating with the DNN core

 interesting... thank you, Joe.

I will take a look at that once I can get all the other errors taken care of and have a while to work with this hack.

Thanks again!
