Your Gallery project team has just posted its first publicly available BETA of the latest compiled version (04.03.00.113) of a vastly imporoved DotNetNuke Gallery module as a downloadable release on its CodePlex project site: http://dnngallery.codeplex.com/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=30482

 

This BETA release is compatible with DotNetNuke versions 4.09.03 and above including DNN 5.x. This is a BETA release which has not yet been re-submitted to the DotNetNuke module release process. Although it has received extensive testing by the Gallery project team and has received preliminary testing during an earlier, failed submission to the DotNetNuke release tracker, it has not passed through all stages of the Release Tracker. The source package for the module will be be available at the time of the official release.

In all well over 100 issues which affected the only publicly released version (03.00.12) of the DNN Gallery module and many usability enhancements have been included in this release. Several of these included highly important security fixes. DISCLAIMER: This BETA release is made available 'as-is'. Therefore any usage on a live production site is strongly discouraged and is at your own risk. Upgradeability from a beta version to a later beta or production version cannot be guaranteed. However, since this version of the Gallery module does not make use of the MS SQL database (other than interfacing with the DNN Files and Folders tables), installing a later beta or production version over this beta (with the "repair" module installation option checked in DNN 5.x installer) will likely be successfull but is not supported. Limited testing of upgrading from the legacy 03.00.12 release has been done but appears to work well. Besure to make a backup of your any existing Gallery folder structure (rooted in the folder \Portals\<PortalID>\Gallery) before testing the upgrade process. You may also find that you will need to clear Gallery-related browser cookies immediately following the upgrade.

BETA RELEASE USAGE AND TESTING: In consideration for having early access to this BETA release, we would greatly appreciate feedback on any issues you discover. Our intention is to offer this BETA release for approximately a two-week period then fix any show-stopper or major bugs before submitting the package to the DotNetNuke module release process. GALLERY ROADMAP: Once the official release has successfully passed through the DotNetNuke release process, the Gallery project team will begin on a new DNN MediaGallery module that will for the most part be coded from the ground up to take advantage of new technologies and best practices including those available in ASP.Net 3.5 and Silverlight 3.
