Hi,

When the question "Why DNN" comes in my mind, it comes with some answers like "open source", "content separator", "database driven page".

Some times I will not satisfied with these answers.

Can any one help me to find some thing apart from these answers.

My question is "Why are we going for DNN?"

Please reply.

Hi,

Why not DNN? We can set up a site with pre-configured modules in less than 10 mins. It  has all the standard features from a standard CMS.

what else can you expect?

Thanks

Nimesh

SS:

Have you tried to develop a decent Web site using ASP.Net from scratch???  I have, but not anymore, I start with DNN as my core now.   By this I mean, a site that provides user authentication and authorization, user roles or groups to manage the user rights, with many configuration options and a nice administration interface and features, with a lot of flexibility on how to configure the thing and most important, that is high quality and thoroughly tested by several thousand people.  Oh, and you have a short time and limited resources to do it.

Well, your answer to the question above should give you the answer to your original question.

When the question "Why DNN" comes in my mind, it comes with some answers like "open source", "content separator", "database driven page".

Those aren't reasons to use DNN.  They apply just as well, perhaps even better, to a dozen other choices like Joomla, Drupal, Mambo and WordPress.

You use DNN when it's appropraite to the task and environment.  When you need to do custom development within a framework.  When it has to be ASP.NET on IIS.  When the given framework functionality forms the base of your application needs.  Or when the boss says to.
