Is there any chance that you could add integration of sub-calendars with the Active Social module?  The sub-calendar would be displayed based on the Active Social group number from the URL.

Thanks.

Hi Joseph,

I'm sure Ernst Peter can give a view on this as well from a module direction point of view...

However my 2 cents worth. It looks to me that if you want Active Social to link across to the the events module, you would need to do integration at the Active Social end rather than at the Events module end. I'm guessing the calendar would display within an Active Social page?

That said, I don't have a copy of Active Social to identify how it would need to work, and at $400 it is outside my price range to casually investigate .

Cheers
Roger

Thanks, Roger.

Active Social uses the URL to pass the "Group Number" that determines which Groups will be displayed.

                  ...ActiveSocial/GroupsView/tabid/121/asg/3/Default.aspx

This will cause the group with id=3 to be displayed.

The Events module would need to use something similar to determine which calendar to display on the page.  It there such an option?

Hi Joseph,

Which calendar to display is controlled by the moduleid, which is controlled by the standard DNN framework. i.e. The admin places an instance of the module on a page, at which time that instance is assigned a moduleid. Events are entered into the database using that moduleid. In effect each calendar is unique, where as it looks like in Active Social there is one instance of the module, which then displays content based on what group you are in.

To link a calendar to a social group would need a module instance per group. I'm not sure whether then Active Social can be configured to display a specific module instance of the events calendar.

Cheers
Roger

Joe,

You can probably take the helpful information provided by Roger and use the Active Social Module Loader control in your template.  You would then be able to display a specific module instance of the events calendar in the groups template.  I still don't know if that will filter the way you want, but I know it will load the module.  Also, Active Social Events will be released with Active Social 1.2.
