The last time I posted on here, I really upset some people. Well this time, I am going to try and upset a few more, because due to something thats going on with the FCK editor, I have about 40 clients all over my back with email problems!!!! AND I WANT A SOLUTION!!!! FAST!!!! (

You add a mailto link in the editor.

PROBLEM! IE tries to load either a non default mail client, or loads a an html page that takes the visitor away from the site or its loads up a random error box.

How the *** did this *** editor ever get released when it creates this problem? The problem appears the be it inserting Javascript.

I am now looking at having to alter hundreds of email links just because some *** tries to be clever! Why why why *** about with something that worked fine and the the FCK has this problem NOT been fixed since it was first noticed????

If you are the sort of person offended by these comments, perhapsd youu can spare a couple of days to go through all my customer websites and do all the work for me! Perhaps also, when they cancel their renewals because of loss of business (which is happening as I speak) you'll be happy to replace my income!! (NO. I thought not).

Some smart alec said last time I should be grateful DNN is free. Gratitude does not extend to having loads of irate customers and masses of totally unecessary work to do ****!

The actual mail client opened by Interenet Explorer IS NOT something that is controlled by DNN or FCK.

The JavaScript "protection" process is something controlled by FCK, but not the actual launched program.

"Gratitude does not extend to having loads of irate customers and masses of totally unecessary work to do for sweet FCK all!".

If you are having issues I suggest you pay for support , rather than attempt to freeload support from these forums in future. Why would any of us do any unnecessary work by helping you? Are you actually going to pay us anything? You've stated before that your customers pay you good money so you can afford it. If you were running some church website in a village somewhere, or just being polite, then maybe you would be worth listening to.... but as you are such a big fish I suggest you dive in a bigger pond.

If a car manufacturer supplies you a car for free, and it develops what you think is a fault, perhaps you might kindly ask them for advice rather than beat them over the head with a steering wheel which they gave you in good faith. You might even make their day by paying them to help, or paying somebody else to service the car. If you are really nice you never know someone might help you and not expect anything much in return.... and if you are REALLY clever you might be able to code your own solution.

Mind you - here's some real tips for free:

a) Avoid unnecessary repeating data entry by reading a SQL book, the other thread gave you a hint:
http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/127/threadid/322592/scope/posts/Default.aspx

b) http://www.fckeditor.net (go on - post in their forums and spread the love).

c) Use google.

d) Supply a code fix yourself (if indeed there is an issue), so that somebody else may benefit (and you never know they may return the favour some day).

e) Try to understand fully what you are talking about before you vent.

f) Be polite and avoid misquoting people.

h) Remember YOU are supplying support to YOUR customers who paid YOU. If you haven't paid for adequate support don't try to pass the buck (blame) onto people you have never paid or established a relationship with. If YOU don't pay for support then YOU are the support. So blame YOURSELF if you subscribe to that sort of mentality.

Love you too (apols for this less than "slick" post).

All,

i'd like to remind everyone that we try to run a friendly forum here and don't appreciate bad language, flaming or trolling.

However, with regards to the original query - this bug exists in versions 2.6.3 and older of the FCKeditor.  The original trouble-ticket can be found here: http://dev.fckeditor.net/ticket/2488.  Users running versions of DotNetNuke packaged with this or prior versions of the FCKeditor will experience this error when using Internet Explorer.  The solution is either to:

        1) upgrade to a newer version of DotNetNuke (packaged with a patched version of the FCKeditor)
        2) manually supply the "mailto" markup in "Source" mode
        3) manually correct the markup automatically inserted by the "Insert/Edit Link" toolbar button (ie alter the <a href=" void(location.href='mailto:'+String.fromCharCode(.............)+'?subject=subject;body=body')"> syntax to remove the void)
        4) manually upgrade your current DotNetNuke installation with a patched version of the FCKeditor
