Internet Explorer 8 is much more W3C compliant then previous versions.
To prevent issues with existing sites  IE8 has a Compatibility Mode, which renders the page as if you were using IE7.

You can force your skin to use Strict or Compatibilty mode by adding a meta tag to the head of the DNN page.
To make this easier for skinners I created a Skin Object that does this for you, include it in your skin and you can be sure it will be rendered correctly in IE.

The meta tag will only be added if the visitor uses Internet Explorer BTW
