Internet Explorer 8 is much more W3C compliant then previous versions.
To prevent issues with existing sites  IE8 has a Compatibility Mode, which renders the page as if you were using IE7.

You can force your skin to use Strict or Compatibilty mode by adding a meta tag to the head of the DNN page.
To make this easier for skinners I created a Skin Object that does this for you, include it in your skin and you can be sure it will be rendered correctly in IE
.

The meta tag will only be added if the visitor uses Internet Explorer BTW
