I created a new module using Michael Washington's tutorial on creating modules. I'm struck while installing the *.dnn(manifest file) in the Dotnetnuke environment. What can I do? Does packaging the module and installing it resolve the problem? Because I've checked out in forums that it installs well that way but you have errors while adding the module in a page. How do I create a package manually?

Help will be very much appreciated, Many Thanks!

Hey venela,

First, could you post the details of the error message that you're seeing? Also, posting the details of the manifest file you're using will help as well. Lastly, could you tell us what version of DNN you're using and what version(s) you plan to target with the manifest file (if you target 5 specifically, it is not backwards compatible).

To create a manifest file manually, I would suggest starting with a manifest file of another module. You can download the installation package for a Tell A Friend module I created here: http://www.engagesoftware.com/Products/Modules/Engage_Tell-a-Friend.aspx It will provide a good example of how to create a manifest file - there are DNN 4 and DNN 5 manifest files there as well.

Hope that helps,

Ian

Hello Ian,

Thanks for the reply. I've rather delayed in replying but I realised it was a silly mistake, I was trying to Install the manifest file instead of importing it. Thanks for ur time. Glad to realise!
