Hey Everyone,

I am having trouble with my new install of DNN 5.0.1. I am setting up using:

Windows Server Standard Edition 2003
SQL 2005
IIS 7
ASP.NET 2.0

I followed the install steps word for word off the install documenation on this web site. I created the datebase with no problems, update the web.config file with database information etc..

Here is the problem. If I go to the virtual directory I created via Internet Explorer, I get an HTTP 403 Error. After reading some other forum posts I found out I could go to  "http://localhost/virtualdirectory/install/install.aspx" when I do that I get an error about the virtual directory being set up incorrect. The exact error is:

Server Error in '/' Application.

Configuration Error

If you are runnig under IIS 7 there are 2 options (Add Application and Add Virtual Directory).  You need to use the "Add Application" to take care of the issue you are having above.

If you are using IIS 6, then you need to go into the properties tab of the VD and on the "Home Direcotory Tab" under the application section you need to click on the "Create Application" button to make IIS see the VS as an application.
