I have a client that wants to offer his subscribers a  RSS reader that they can download from his site and of course he wants the reader to branded for his site. Is there anyone out there developing a "Brandable RSS Reader Module"?

I know this might sound like an odd question - but what do you mean by brandable? Their own product? When it's installed has their own module details?

I think you'd have to talk to a developer about having something that could be downloaded by others - maybe some sort of licensing agreement but that's another area.

You might like to contact http://scottschecter.net about anything related to RSS - he's a great developer and knows alot about it RSS so he might be able to help you.

Nina's right. When you say "brandable RSS reader" that makes me think you're talking about something they can customize and deploy as needed. If all you're looking for is something to display an RSS feed with a look and feel specific to your client (i.e. custom logos), then you can use the News Feed (RSS) Module that comes with DNN. You'll have to create your own XSL, but that'll give you all kinds of flexibility.

Thanks Nina, your the best;) I too an unsure what your asking about here. You say branded rss reader that they can download, are you talking about a windows form application that they install on their pc (the client). If so thats not a DotNetNuke module at all. Or are you talking about a DotNetNuke module (one that resides in the portal) that can create feeds for the portal to be consumed by an arbitrary desktop reader?

My client has a Marketing site that he wants to provide an RSS Reader  via download to sit on his members Desktops. He wants this reader to be "Branded" with his logo, his channels, etc... The members would be able to add additional channels, but would not be able to delete his channels. He wants the ability to notify his clients whenever he updates certain informations on his portal site via that popup that seems to accompany most RSS readers.

I suppose that it would be a "windows form application that they install on their pc (the client)"  that I am asking about. So this may not be the proper forum for such a question.

Thanks for any suggestions that you may have to offer.
