Does anyone know of a module, script, etc. that can be used to generate a one time use RSVP code that when entered will give a user access to a certain role?

I wish for this code to be generated at registration just like the verification code.

Thank you,

Michael

Hi Michael,

You're in luck - if I understand your request correctly - this functionality is built right in to DotNetNuke (starting with DNN 4.3 I believe). Read up on the process here: Automatically Add Users to a Role in DotNetNuke.

Hope that helps,

Ian

Thank you for your reply.  That is what I'm doing now but I was curious if the code could be generated for each new user.  That way I wouldn't have to worry about the code getting out and it would also serve the dual purpose of verifying the email address.

So far, I haven't been able to find a solution.

Michael

Hey Michael, looks like I didn't quite follow your first post - but it does clearly say one time use now that I read it again :) I'm not aware of anything off the top of my head that has this functionality, but I'll ask around and see what I can find out.

Hi Michael

I've done something that works in a very similar way using OpenWebStudio (free).

A sample configuration of what I did is also available here. What I did was create a double-opt in newsletter subscription.

The area that relates to your query is how it performs the double opt-in as it sends an email to the user with their own email address encrypted in the querystring within a link back to the website.  The confirmation page decrypts this and confirms if it is correct.  Here you could add the user to a role, without needing them to enter a code though you could do that as well or instead if you preferred (such as an encryption of their UserID).

Do let me know how you get along, and if it's something that sounds like it might be what you're looking for.

Cheers

David
