I am using DNN 4.9.4 and have AD installed and working to a point.

When using IE 7 if I clear out my cookies and temp files and go to my DNN site, it will automatically log me in.  I see my AD user name.  Login works fine.  But if I click LOGOUT and close down IE7, open IE7 and navigate back to the DNN site, it does not automatically log me in.

I have to manually sign-in my WINDOWS login Id credentials.  How can I prevent this from happening.  I know some of my users will want to click on logout option and sometime later try to go back to the DNN site.

Thoughts?

IIS also writes a cookie to your site and until that expires (1/2 hour to an hour) you won't be automatically logged in. There's nothing that I can do in code to get around this. What I and a few others have done is add a link on pages where a user needs to be logged in that points to http://<yoursite>/desktopmodules/authenticationservices/activedirectory/windowssignin.aspx.

I added that link and it seems to work.  Kinda weird huh?  Is this something that for the DNN 4.9.4 and fixed in the 5.X versions?

Thanks

It's not anything that can be fixed as it's a function of IIS. I could try to set it so that if it detects the person isn't logged in that it would log them in again but that would cause problems in a situation where you really do want to log out (i.e I need to log out so that I can re-login with an admin account).
