I can't remember but it seems we had trouble in the past creating a DNN intranet site and then using a FQDN to access it from the internal network. For example - we can get to http://intranet but we couldn't use something like http://intranet.publicdomainname.com to access the site internally. I know this can be done in Sharepoint using an alternate address but can this be done in DNN with a site that is using Active Directory for authentication?

Thanks!

To further clarify the situation -

I don't believe you can use a public domain name when accessing the intranet site from the internal network domain. You have to use something like http://intranet or http://intranet.domain.local to access the site internally but have to use something like http://intranet.domainname.com to access the site outside of the network. Is that correct?

Trying to determine how to configure the site for internal and external use with Active Directory.

I access all my sites by their domain name both internally and externally. It sounds like your network admins have set things up a little differently. However, I would think (this is without trying it) that it shouldn't matter what the URL address is as long as the portal can talk to the AD.
