I have a client that owns theirdomain.com, theirdomain.net, and theirdomain.org.  I have their DNS setup as a Mirror (some call it an Alias) so that the name servers return identical answers for all 3.  Everything works fine, however, the client wants to have the website only use theirdomain.org.  If someone shows up using theirdomain.com, they actually want the visit redirected (permanently) to the .org version.  I have actually got 2 solutions to this already, but I am not fond of either and I find myself wondering if there is some built in way to do this that I am not aware of.

So my question is, what is the best or recommended way to accomplish this?  It does not have to be core functionality, I am perfectly willing to purchase a module if it can accomplish this.  Thanks in advance - Jeremy

That would accomplish what I want, but I believe that only redirects using a temporary (302).  For SEO reasons I need to make it a permanent redirect.  I am surprised at the lack of responses, I thought this was a common thing that I just could not find the right feature or documentation for.  Anyone?
