Help,

Has any one got any ideas or answers? I am trying to install a clean deployment of DNN 5 on a remote dedicated server, I have followed the guidance for creating a new database in (SQL Server 2008) alocating the database file in the APP_Code folder. Then created a user for the database with dbo permissions. I have checked IIS to make sure that the correct ASP.Net is selected and that the web.config is pointing to the correct file in HTdocs.

Each time I try to invoke the Installation wizard it fails to accept the login for the user for SQL server authentication. If I then try to see if the Windows authentication mode will work it defaults to a DSVRxxxxx\IUSR_NEW-STD2003 account which still fails to login.

Here are some of the error messages from the Configure Databse Connection page:

Connection Error(s):
Index #: 0
Source: .Net SqlClient Data Provider
Class: 11
Number: 4060
Message: Cannot open database "Salonstudies.mdf" requested by the login. The login failed.

Connection Error(s):
Index #: 1
Source: .Net SqlClient Data Provider
Class: 14
Number: 18456
Message: Login failed for user 'DSVRxxxxxx\IUSR_NEW-STD2003'.

Connection Error(s):
Index #: 0
Source: .Net SqlClient Data Provider
Class: 14
Number: 18488
Message: Login failed for user 'Ssuser'. Reason: The password of the account must be changed.

What am I doing wrong?

Two things.  First if you are doing a fresh installation, I strongly recommend starting with the most current version (DNN 5.1.1).

Secondly, your error message outlines the error, the SQL Server user account that you are using needs to have the password changed.  Login to the account using SQL Server Management Studio and change the password.

Start with 5.1.1 install package, do not configure a database if you're using SQL Express.  If you're using full SQL Server, create the database using the SQL Management Studio.  And you don't use the App_Code folder, databases are expected to be in App_Data.
