how can I change the default "login" link to read  "customer login"?  Any help would be appreciated.

<dnn:LOGIN runat="server" id="dnnLOGIN"  Text="Customer Login"/>  has to be put into the skin - and it will display the word accordingly.

since DNN is supporting localization, it is preferable, to edit the text using the language editor (from host::language or Admin::language). AFAIR, t is situated in /admin/skin/app_localReesources/search.ascx.
