I have the same problem, andy. If this is your first time working with DNN you will discover that the install is flaky in the extreme. You may have to try it twenty times in a row before it will finall go through its paces. You will probably never find out why it hangs at various points. I never was able to discover any reason behind it.

Furthermore, don't expect any of the actual DNN developers to help you out here. I have tried before and it ain't gonna happen.

My two suggestions for you:

1) Try it 100 different times before you decide that it isn't going to work. Never mind the error messages, or lack of them, just keep trying it.

2) Try searching the net. Oddly enough, the answers to all of the many problems with the installation will probably not be found here.

Andy,

Have you made sure that you have set the correct directory permissions on the folder with the DNN installation (eg NETWORK SERVICE) according to the instructions?  Also, are you using the "Test Permissions" to check DNN has the access it requires when you get to the first or second screen in the installation wizard?  Have you also made sure you can connect to the database using the "test connection" link on the installation page with the Database Properties.

I know these are simple things, but we need to start eliminating things :)

Silly question, but did you read the pinned post at the top of this forum?
