in DNN.....i have the most basic toppane/leftpane/contentpane/rightpane/bottompane configuration..........

when i add a module to the top pane.....there is a HUGE amount of whitespace between the bottom of the nav bar and the top of the module i added. i can NOT find how this whitespace is controlled. people just say "it's in the stylesheet" but i have searched through several css files and yes.....i've found ".TopPane" settings like "padding" and "margin" etc....but they are all set to ZERO.

HOW is the distance between modules controlled????

It could be in the container you use.

Normaly the distance is controlled by the skin you use.

we have the container set to "not specified"

nothing in any stylesheet seems to address this.

there are unexplained classes shown when i do a "view source" on the rendered page. for example:

    <div class="c_content">
        <div id="dnn_ctr407_ContentPane" class="Normal c_contentpane DNNAlignleft">
        <!-- Start_Module_407 --><div id="dnn_ctr407_ModuleContent">
    <table border="0" width="100%" align="left" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">

i don't know where these classes are defined ...... some unknown CSS?

To help you you have to show us your site or at least tell us what skin and container you use.

i'm using the DNNBlue skin - but the same phenomenea seems to happen no matter what skin we use.

in my skin.css file, i see this:

.contentpane {
    width: 100%;
    background-color: transparent;
    padding-left: 6px;
    padding-right: 4px;
    padding-top: 0px;
                  valign: top;

and yet......the content pane content is aligned to the bottom, not the top. if i set "padding-top" to 60 i can see the whitespace at the top increase......but if i go in the opposite direction......setting it to 0 or -30 or whatever.....the content DOES shift upward....but will not go all the way to the top.....it's always about 3/4" down from the top of the container.

i just don't know where the space between modules is controlled - very annoying that it is this difficult. surely someone else has run into this????

i have another guy here who wrote a very basic skin from scratch and when he added his first module to the top pane - his first question was "hey....why is there so much distance between my module and the nav bar???"

who wants a site with 2" spaces between modules????
