 One thing I could think of to try would be to disable the view state of controls your self by modifying the ascx.

Add EnableView_State="False" (minus the underscore) to controls, such as static labels may help.

Always be wary when modding stuff like this, but it is an option to help shrink the view state.

Thanks Baatezu for the tip.

Looks like setting enableview_state=false in our container files really helped.  Also doing the same thing on our navigation/menu control trimmed it by quite a bit.  We're happy to say that Big Mama has lost a lot of weight
