Just upgraded my dev installs.  Tried to upgrade 5.0.0 install to 5.1.2 - it failed.  Upgraded a 4.9.0 to 5.1.2 - no problems. Also upgraded 4.9.0 to 4.9.5 - no problems.

These were all brand new installs of 5.0.0 and 4.9.0 prior to upgrading.  The install I upgraded to 5.1.2 upgraded fine but throws an error when I try to edit anything on the Admin setting page:

"Cannot insert the value null into column 'default language'"

I looked for default language in the admin settings - it is a dropdown with no options listed.  Any ideas??

Same here. I tried to edit the setting for Inline editing (on the admin settings page under Usability) and that threw a site settings error. I reverted back to using 5.1.1 for now.

Go to Admin |  Languages and set the default and fallback and check the enable box. Then go to Admin | Site Settings |Advanced | Other and make sure the default is selected.

Thanks Bobby.

That was the problem. Seems like there should be a default language set in the package so this doesn't happen.  Maybe there is on new installs and this only happened since I did an upgrade??

I just installed this as a fresh install and had the same problem.
