hi folks i need to move a site from a dedicated server to a shared one, and its a dnn site. i have absolutely no experience with dnn (yet!) but have a fair amount of exeprience with web dev in general. i have done the following - is there anything else that needs to be done? 1) downloaded all files from the old server and uploaded to new. 2) exported BAK file from old SQL server and imported to new SQL server 3) activated ASPnet version 2 4) updated web.config to new SQL connection deatils. what else needs to be done? thanks!

if site address changes, you need to add new domain address as portal alias in sql table portalalias.

As Sebastian said, once you've created a new portal alias entry for your new domain you should be set to rock and roll.

The other problem that I've seen people running into is that they used absolute URL/Image references from their old URL...probably a safe bet to run through your files and double check.

Thanks guys. The domain will be the same (after propagation of course - at the moment the new server is running off a temporary subdomain). what files would i have to run through? the physical files, ot data in the database? at the moment, i am getting the following error, --------------------------------------------- Parser Error Description: An error occurred during the parsing of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific parse error details and modify your source file appropriately. Parser Error Message: Stream is not a valid resource file. Source Error: Line 1: Line 2: Line 3: Source File: /App_GlobalResources/Locales.Portal.xml.resources Line: 1 ------------------------------------------------ thanks again!

one other issue - i am going through some the tables, and i see that the table idenities seems to be messed - i assume this happened in the import.

do i need to go thru all the tables and mark all the ID fields as identities and mark them as key?

thanks
