Hi,

I looged in as my host user account this morning to be greeted with a nice red flag stating that there were "Critical Updates Available".

Obviously this doesn't give you any hint on what version to upgrade to (I'm currently on version 4.9.0), the link just takes you to the normal download page...

Does anybody know what version I need to upgrade to (I'm presuming 4.9.5)?  Is there any risk to the data that is already on the site (Am I going to be left with an empty site after the upgrade?)

And finally.....   What has made this a critical update?

I know this has probably been discussed already but I can't find anything on the forum despite numerous search attempts.

Thanks in advance.

Damian

Hi Damian,

I recommend upgrading to 4.9.5 or 5.1.2; both are stable and should serve you well.  You can read about the security issues that necessitate the upgrade here; it is important that you stay current with these and keep your site up to date.

Before upgrading, be sure to back up your site (both database and file system).  The upgrade process is not designed to affect your current data in any way, but you are advised to test before deploying in production (and have a backup in case an issue arises).

Hope this helps!

Brandon
