Hi,

normally I am using a local development server, a staging server for the customer to approve changes and a production server. So I will have to move a portal twice for each change.

I thought that copying the skins and exporting / importing templates was a good idea, since all modules I am using typically implement IPortable.

I stil run into issues, for example if a call to NavigateURL(tabId) is being used in the skin, then that link will cease functioning since the tabid will be different on different servers.

Is there a safe way to design around this (e.g. by using a different method than NavigateURL) or a better way to move portals from server to server?

TIA for any hints. Regards
Tim

I'm not entirely sure what the problem you're having is, but to move a portal around you can follow these steps:

1) Add portal alias to development portal to reflect your production portal

2) copy all files from dev site to production site

3) Backup development database, restore to production database

I hope this helps some, but again I'm not sure if I entirely understand what your issue is.
