I've installed DotNetNuke on several sites now, but I'm having trouble with a couple of them. The two sites that I'm having trouble with, the Site Settings page does not appear correctly. For example, instead of listing the types of user registrations, it says "None", "1", "Public", "3". Also it says "Page {0} of {1}" where the various default pages are selected (the home page, login page, etc.). There are many other places where the labels are incorrect as well (though other places where it is okay). This is the same version of the Install package as I used on other sites. For all of these sites, I had to add enable the language (I selected "English - United States" and enabled it under the Languages tab). The other sites are fine; the Site Settings page shows the appropriate labels. The only difference that I've been able to find between these two and the others is that with all the others I installed DotNetNuke into the root directoy of the Web server whereas these two sites use a subdirectory (the subdirectory is enabled as an application with the appropriate settings and security permissions). I may try using a virtual directory next. Placing the application in the root of these servers would be problematic due to name conflicts.

Any help would be appreciated,

BlueG

I've now tried it as a virtual directory as well and it still does not work, so I remain in the dark as to what may be behind this. As commented before, it is the same setup as used elsewhere except that it is in a subdirectory or virtual directory. I'll have to experiment with the root directory next, but that will take some time since I'll need to move things around first. In the meantime, if anyone has any ideas...

With my continued work on this, I've confirmed this happens whenever the site is installed or moved to a virtual or sub directory, so I'll be submitting a trouble ticket (if I can figure out where to do so). I'm unsure if this is only for the Install package, or if it would apply to the source package as well. Is anyone else having this problem? Is anyone else installing the Install package to a virtual directory or a sub directory of the root?

do you have ASP.NET 3.5 sp 1 installed on the server where it's not working?

we ran into the same issue and it turns out it was because the site was running on a server with ASP.NET 3.  It worked fine on ASP.NET 3.5 server.  Upgraded to ASP.NET 3.5 on the first server and the site settings labels and help text showed back up.  I filed a bug in Gemini but it was labeled as won't fix because starting in DNN 5.2 ASP.NET 3.5 sp1 will be the minimum requirement.

Yes, I do. And after your post, I took some time to verify it since I've seen .NET installs fail once or twice . Though, given that you saw the same issue as I am, maybe I'll try reinstalling it anyways... I've no better idea at the moment .
