Hi,

I'm setting up a website that will have the CataLook Store.

I'm looking to have multiple regions (ie: United States, Canada, Latin America, Europe, Asia, Australia)
Within each region there will be at least two languages (ie: Canada will have  en-CA & fr-CA)

I know that I can install all the languages and have ALL show up in a single drop-down, but the customer requests that they choose their Region first, refresh the page or something (populate languages for that region), then have the regions corresponding languages show up to choose from.

I thought about developing a custom module that would manage this, but I thought that I would shout out to see what others have done in my situation.

you should reconsider your concept. Usually, stores use to be specific for countries and UI needs to be adopted to the language only.

IE: use different stores (portals) per country and a lading page to select the appropriate store. Enable appropriate languages per portal only.

Although we are not using CataLook, but a custom store module, I support Sebastian's suggestion. We keep two separate portals each with its own store module for DNNCastellano.com and DNNEnglish.com. Each portal has its own language settings and everything works like a charm.

HTH.

Saludos!

Hi Derek

Why would customer want users to have to go through 2 steps to get to their needs?

I have a similar setup for a website (www.snug-bugs.co.uk), also currently with Catalook (but disappointed with their service and inability to fix bugs)  and definitely think you should consider separate portals for each region.

Catalook is not multi-currency so a single portals would at best give customers an estimate only of the price then take payment in a single base currency. You will lose some level of control over regions if you use a single portal.

Country/Language choices in a single dropdown should be fine (as per my site) and I do think the need for more than 1 language in a location will be few - breaking it up into 2 stages just adds unneccessary complexity.
