I'm trying to get a portal working but I'm not sure what the issue is.  I have a site www.firstsite.com that is setup in dnn and I have configured a portal for my other site www.secondsite.com.  I am hosting both sites on godaddy. In my searching I found out that I need to set up pointers.  This is were I get lost.  Could anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance!

Whoever told you that is probably referring to Portal Aliases.  These can be access under Host -> Portals.

As far as your actual setup, I would contact GoDaddy.  The way they require their DNN sites(especially with multiple portals) to be setup is rather strange.  I have had good experiences with their customer service in the past regarding DNN, they should be able to get you setup.
