Hi

I was wondering if someone knows a way to change the default skin theme just by letting the user click an ordinary link. I'd like to show my customers an easy way of changing the default skins and containers. The reason I want to do this is partially because I'd like some othe user than the admin or host to be able to do this. But the main reason is that I think the pictures of which is to be found under themes are to small to comprehend.

I have a fair amount of dotnetnuke experience and some programming background which is kind of a forgotten era. I'd appreciate it if someone could give me a pointer in the right direction. It should be possible because I've seen it be done on other sites.

Thanks

Toby

Do you mean to change the default skin for all users, or just the preferred skin for the particular user browsing the site?

Thanks for your reply.

I was thinking of changing the whole portal skin for everyone. The reason is that I have a demosite that I want my customers to be able to try out different skins to pick from. He doesn't actually need to be logged in, if it's possible to do this just by clicking a link.

Thanks

Toby

Take a look at the URL if you click the preview link from the Admin > Skins (in DNN 5)

That should allow you to let users preview a skin

Genious - and simple!

I used the url from the Admin -> Theme (DNN 4) and tried it as a regular html link. And it worked - when the user was logged in as admin. If not, the user could submit the admin username and password and voila the skin was applied. I'd prefer it to work without the visitor having to log in or manual submit the username and password.

Is there a way that I can pass the username and password with the URL? The url is now:

/Default.aspx?tabid=49&Root=Skins&Type=G&Name=sb007_blueorange&Src=admin dark.ascx&action=apply

Thanks
