HI,

I have  an Active Directory with accounts. My website has the ad modules installed and all is working sofar. the clients connect from the internet and have to use the domain\accounts each time they want to login to the website. This works sometimes but most of the time the user gets a 401 access denied immediately.

if this happens the users cannot login and do not see the pages that are open for all users

Does anyone has an idea where to look because i cannot find any error

Hi Rudy

I need some more information. What version of DNN are you using and what version of the AD provider. What is your server OS and IIS version? Where are they having to enter the domain\username? On the DNN login screen or is there a popup being generated by IIS?

Late respons sorry,

We are running DNN 4.9 user login with domein\username we have latest ad provider 1.06 and the server is w2k8 iis7. The users are on the internet and press login there they see the login box for windows authentication and login. No pop-ups nothing. Trying to go throught the logfiles it looks like something is blocking windows authentication in IIS. Could that be the problem? Users get most of the time 401 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials. right after they entered the url (they do not see the first page which is open to everyone

Hi Rudy

Would tend to agree with you that something is blocking the passage of their credentials through to the server. Are they running any sort of firewall software such as ZoneAlarm, Norton Internet Security, etc? I had a user the other day who couldn't get logged in but as soon as he disabled ZoneAlarm he had no problems.

Hi Mike,

I have done some tests and rebuild the website. Still I have the same issue. I disabled the firewall software but still the same problem. When I go to the URL I immediatly get the Access denied error. Not the first page with the login box. I gets a bit frustrating.

It looks like I get passed through to the login.aspx file immediately and as the documentation says I have added security on this so it cannot open this file yet. First you need to go to the login page and enter your credentials. Am I missing something?
