I am not sure I know for sure what you are asking, but here are two possible answers.

If you are asking if you can change the look of the menu for different skins, then yes, you just make changes to the skins style sheet.  There may even be a video on DNNCreative.com that will walk you through the process.

If you are asking if you can use other menu systems, then yes, there are several alternative menus for DNN.  I would suggest looking on SnowCovered.com.

I hope this helps.

 Hi Robert,

Thanks for your immediate response. Appreciate it. Yes, the two things which you said can be done. What i was trying to ask is.. if i can have different root menu tabs for different skin apart from restricting the user from view permission on the pages.

For example: for one skin i would like the menu tabs to be

Home | Technology | Embedded | VLSI

and other skin a different Nav Menu

Home | Music | Films |

The Home Page Tab needs to be different page as well. Can we do this? Hope i'm clear now in my question.

Thanks,

Sri

I the short answer is I do not believe you can do that (I am very familiar with DNN and I do not know of a way).  The menu is setup to support stuff like showing only child pages, or only top level pages, etc.  In the past what I have done is to have a admin skin that has the standard menu with everything and then add the text/HTML (or other) modules to the page where I created the navigation I wanted.  Then when not logged in as the admin, you would just see your hand crafted navigation...  It is a bit of a process, but I do not know of any other options for you on this.  Hopefully if there are other options someone else will chime in and let us both know ;-)

There are menues on the market that can do this.

One is ciss.sidemenu and snapsis and I think Inventua too. Those menus let you exclude tabs/pages.

Then you can do two skins that shows different menus.
