Hi everyone,

Perhaps someone is able to help me. I am running a DNN portal at www.adelaide2007.com and am having quite a bit of difficulty in getting it to run at any normal speed. It takes a very long time to browse between pages or log in etc. Can anyone think of any reasons why? Would this be a problem with my configuration of DNN or the server?

Thank you!!

Pete

Hi,

- are you being hosted, or is this your own server

- what O/S versions, ram, RDBMS, etc

I would suspect coming from from a hardware background, that you may being having a bottlenect issue somewhere.

i just tried your site, it seems to be serving up the pages, not too bad as I switched between pages (apr 25, 2006 9:03 PM EST)

your site looks nice

Thanks for the reply Johnny, I appreciate it.

The site is being hosting by www.aspwebhosting.com.au, so I don't know anything about the O/S, ram, etc.

The strange thing is that sometimes it will be relatively fast, and other times it can take up to 2 or 3 minutes to load pages. They will eventually load, but it can a very long time.

Any other ideas?

Thank you!

Pete

Hi everyone,

Can any one else help me on this issue? I'm still having trouble, and some times the site can be so slow that I just need to close it and come back to it in an hour or so, and then it will be fine. Can anyone think of any potential reasons for this?

Thank you!

Hi,

i'm wondering if their server is being bogged down at the times you are attempting to access it, causing your DNN to slow down. i just tried again

April 30, 2006 11:36 PM EST, and its actually coming up faster than last time i checked.

i've also noticed that if there are no active connections to the DB, the first connection takes longer than usual, once its connected, the following connections seem to access the site better.

also, i'm wondering if your ISP is running out of bandwidth (that's a long shot...), or their SQL server installation parameters are not at their optimal values.

I wish i could be of more assistance.

Johnny
