I have deleted 2 pages from inside dotnetnuke (5.01.01) but they are still showing in the menu.

The "IsDeleted" field is showing as "true" for these tabs but they are still showing in the menu.

Does anyone know if it would be okay for me to delete the records for these tabs directly in the database, in the Tabs table? Is there another way of removing them from the menu?

I assume, it is a problem of your menu component not to suppress hidden items, but you can erase them by emptying the recycle bin in Admin menu.

Sebastian is correct, you can empty the recycle bin, which deletes the records from the table.

To answer your original question, yes, you can delete a tab record from the database.  However, if you are doing so, use the inbuilt  'DeleteTab' stored procedure, rather than running a 'delete from tabs where tabid= x'
