Facing the same issue. Here're the details; +++ Environment DNN version = 5.1.4 OS = Windows = WIndows Server 2003 SP2 Browser = IE 7.0 .Net Framework = v2.0 , v3.0, v3.5 (C;\WINDOWS\Microsoft.Net\Framework\) Database = SQL Server 2008 It is LOCAL install (NOT a hosted or remote install) The IIS Server, the SQL Server on it and. I am installing DNN 5.1.4 directly on this machine. +++ DNN Install Steps + "Custom" install. + "Test Permission" works fine + "Test Database Connection" that is passes too + On the net screen DNN Installer runs the database install scripts. The webpage says "Installing Database Scripts" The red square continue to run / show progress (for ever) Basically it hangs at this point. + Here's what shows up on the web page (just to clear) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Installing Database - Version 05.00.00 ... Success undefined...Success undefined...Success undefined...Success ; ; ; --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- + Double checked to make sure the "web.config" does not have a NULL inside "AssemblyBinding" (as suggested in this thread) + The database objects newly created inside DNN database look OK (but not sure) [ there are 70 Tables, 470 Stored Procedures, etc ] Please help get through this hanging issue.  I'm experiencing the same problem doing a clean install of DNN 5.1.4 on a GoDaddy.com Economy Windows shared hosting account. The installation stalls at "Installing Database - Version 05.00.00...". 

When I look at the database, I don't see any DNN tables created, just ASP tables such as:

  • aspnet_Applications
  • aspnet_Membership
  • aspnet_Paths
  • etc.

I've had no problems installing DNN 4.x on GoDaddy shared hosting accounts, so I suspect there is something new going on with DNN 5 installation. I will try installing DNN 4.9.4 and then upgrading.

Also, how about adding a "Verbose" option to the installer and have this display much more status information during installation? That would seem to go a long way toward finding problems like this.
