I have 10 sites i have to build...So would it be better to have it all on one protal or should I have them on their own installs.

I have another question...

 

I know the anwser i found says all sites that share a DB but what about each site has its own DB??  whould that be better??

I can't say for sure because I'm not sure how critical data migration would be, but if you have 10 basic sites to build hosting them on a shared db is no big deal. The only time it becomes a problem is when the client wants "their" data. We host a ton of stuff in multi portal environments. It's the only way we can keep our service affordable. It's great to be able to upgrade 20 sites at a time to a new release. You just need to make it clear to the client that their data is in a shared environment and they will be unable to "pack their bags and move".

ok..thanks for the reply...I just was thinking about if they stayed with me for 2 or 3yrs and then thay wanted to move 2 sites...so i didnt know about easy it would be to let them take the code..

I see your point about the upgrade...

I have a DEV server and and PROD server...I could just backup the PROD server to the DEV and just start uninstalling protals...
