Nina,

i don't see a chance to switch from hashed to encrypted passwords due to the basic character of these methods: Hashed passwords cannot be retrieved, there is no option to regain the original password. during login, simply the hash of the entered pwd is compared to the stored hash of the original one. Encryption is reversable, i.e. you can use decrypt and compare with entered pwd and also you can export pwd using one of the available tools.

If there are issues with hashed passwords in DNN 5.1, please enter it into Gemini, in order the developers are able to fix it.

Cheers from Germany,

I want to say thankyou thankyou thankyou to Robert for helping me work this solution out and I have been able to successfully switch from hashed to encrypted and convert/reset the passwords accordingly.

I really appreciate the help and Robert went way over and above what I was expecting and for that I'm very grateful.

I can also confirm the reset password and reset password question and answer being the same page do not work - it throws errors in the log viewer and I had to turn off the password question and answer option, but I don't think this has ever worked correctly anyway.

The point is.. dnnskins.com now operates as expected and I can move on to more exciting things.

Regards and thank you.

Nina
