I was having this issue as well. I'm running DNN 5.02 on Server 2008 R2, IIS 7.5 and MS SQL 2008. I changed everything that was mentioned in other posts:

  • Setfile permissions for NETWORK SERVICE
  • setting the AppPool -> Load User Profile = True
  • Changing the AppPool Identity to NETWORK SERVICE
  • Setting the app to Full Trust, etc

However, it was not until I changed the physical path of my DNN website from a network path to a physical path that I was able to get it to work.

Old Value: //<SERVER NAME>/www/myDnnSite/

New Value: C:/data/www/myDnnSite/

After that, it worked fine. Something about accessing it over a network share.
