I am trying to create a portal in my orginal install of the latest version of DNN on a Vista machine... So far I have tried to add a new website in IIS 7.0 and  pointing the phyical path back to my default install and then created the portal from the Host menu following the demo and instructions that I could find on this forum and  I've also tried to change the file named 'hosts' in the driver/etc directory to point to my localhost as suggestion in one of the post, but with no sucess. I've spent hours trying to figure this out on my own...

Could someone give me some step by step instructions on how to add a portal in DNN version 5.12 on a Vista machine with a local install?  I would really appreciate the help!

Thanks!

easiest way I know is either by using the tool at mikevandermeulen.com/dnn OR by using Microsofts "Web Platform Installer" Both of these tools help automate the process

Hi Vollerworld,

I think you misunderstand I already have DNN installed locally on my Vista machine, what I'm trying to do now is add a new portal (local website) to this install. Also, I'm not sure why you responded three times to my post...
