Hi Folks,

I got past one major problem in upgrading from 4.09.05 to 5.01.04 only to run into this

Executing Application Upgrades: 05.00.00 Error!

I have noticed a number of posts that included this error. I got only this one and like other developers found nothing in the log. I did get a message that the Upgrade was complete so I clicked to get to the main web site page and got a “The page cannot be found” message. I get that every time I try to go to the URL. All my other sites work fine including the completely new 5.01.04 test site I installed so IIS 5.1 is OK.

Has anyone determined a resolution for this issue?

Hi Folks,

I finally got my site that was upgraded to 5.01.04 working but not completely without errors so this is only a partially resolved problem. I did the following:
  1. Restored the backup of the old site
  2. I then saved the web.config.
  3. I unzipped the install not the upgrade version of 4.09.05 over this site.
  4. I used the old web.config to change the new 4.09.05 web.config (connection strings, machinekey, etc.).
  5. I upgraded it to DNN version 4.09.05 by opening the site in my browser with no errors.
  6. I then saved the web.config again.
  7. I unzipped the install not the upgrade version of 5.01.04 over the 4.09.05 site.
  8. I used the 4.09.05 web.config to change the new 5.01.04 web.config (connection strings, machinekey, etc.).
  9. Since I have more than one database connected to this site I then made the changes suggested by Jack Feyes here - Possible problem in the Dotnetnuke core lib on ver 5.x.
  10. I then upgraded it to DNN version 5.01.04 by opening the site in my browser. I did get the “Executing Application Upgrades: 05.00.00 Error!” again but this time I got to the home page and could log in.
One anomaly I noticed is that when you are on an admin page like host settings if you log out you go directly to the login page. If I recall correctly all logouts used to send you to the home page.

I hope this helps with the DNN core developers’ review of this issue.

I was just performing a much needed upgrade from 4.9.0 > 5.1.4 and got the exact same error. However, I have not been able to detect any anomalies with the site. While this is a bit of a blessing, I'm still nervous that the error even exists. Is there any way to identify what the error was or where I should look for problems? All I have to go by right now is:

Executing Application Upgrades: 05.00.00 Error!

For reference, the site is setup as a single entity (no portals) and has only one database that it connects to.

Thanks!
