I have downloaded a backup copy of the SQL Server DB for my site (hosted by PowerDNN) so that I can work with it locally.  I have setup a local instance of DNN and edited the web.config to point to the backup SQL Server copy.

But when I enter the localhost address, IE down't show the backup content but appears to redirects and displays my actual on-line site; not the content of the backup copy.

What have I missed?  Is there a way to accomplish my goal?

Thanks, Al

It's not only the web.config settings, you also have to edit two tables in your now local db via SQL Server Management Express:

- in Table PORTALALIAS edit the field HTTPALIAS regarding your local installation
- in Table WEBSERVERS edit the field SERVER-NAME according your local enviroment

Thanks Kai . .  .

I followed your suggestion but I am still stymied.

If I leave the web config database name pointing to the basic DNN datbase, I get the expected DNN home page.when I used the localhost URL.

But if I change the db name to my backup database copy, then I get Page Not Found when I use the same URL.  Is the direction to the default page related to the settings you suggested or have Imissed something else?

localhost needs to be added as portal alias in the restored database backup.
