  Hi,

Its probably me thats failing to code it correctly.
Is there any place I can go to see why my subdirectories are not being created ?
Any way to debug when a module definition is imported ?

thanks for your time

compare your manifest with the one of bundled modules - Reports and form and List use DNN5 manifest, all others still are packaged like in DNN3 or 4.

    Hi,
Here is the manifest I was trying to use.
   http://www.iqworks.com/xManafiest.aspx

I have a manifest issue where the "Import Module Definition" says "Installation successful".

But I do not see the what should be a newly created "DesktopModules/MBS2/MBS_Maint"
folder, and of course I dont see the .ascx files that should be added either ?
I took this mainifest from the report module and just put in what I needed.

I also tried several others including one that works as a PA Zip ?
Could my "Import Module Definition" be broken ?
    thanks for your time

The manifest does not appear to be a valid on for installation into the DNN 5.x framework. For starters:

1. The manifest version attribute should be 5.0 not 4.0. NOTE: This assumes you are trying to create a manifest/package for install into DNN 5.x

2. There is no <component type="Module"> node with all of its child nodes that are essential for creating the sub-directory(s) under DesktopModules, registering the module definition and module controls, etc.

Please look carefully at the most recent Reports and form and List module manifests for examples of a properly structured version 5 manifest.

After getting your module to function properly in your development environment, have you tried automatically creating the module package - i.e. logging in as host user, navigating to Host-->Module Definitions, clicking on your module's edit pencil icon, then clicking Create Package?

Thank you William, I AM using 5.1.4, so, I will be considering and trying all of what you suggested right away.
