Hi

Currently working on DNN website and we need to convert existing DNN Web Site to DNN Web Application Project, can anyone point me out the way of doing this conversion sooon.

IMHO it is not advisable to convert the DNN framework web from WSP to WAP, because you will need to redo this on every upgrade.

Hi Sebastian,

What is the reason why DNN remains as a WebSite rather than a WebApplication?

Please, excuse my ignorance because I'm using the portal a short time ago.

a WSP site allows for easy modification of the UI and integration of WSP modules, which is not possible in WAP sites, AFAIK.

Hum...it's true that WSP sites allows easy modification of the UI because you can modifify the source code without rebuilding the entire site, but I think that the reason for this is by the difference between the use of "CodeFile" or "CodeBehind" tags on an ASPX/ASCX header.

In fact, you can use an hybrid of WAP project that includes ASPX files which source code can be modified after building the project using the CodeFile tag. I think that WSP modules would work with this premise.

The question comes because I had doubts about the conversion of the site for running on the Azure enviroment -it needs to be an WAP- and considerations to have in mind.

I'm writing about it on this site below. If you think that I'm losing something, any suggestions would be welcome.
