Hi everyone,

This is my first commercial module created with DNNBuilda, my open-source module prototyper. The idea was to incorporate all the features anyone would need who runs a corporate intranet with DNN or just needs link-level permissions. It's a lot easier to manage large groups of links as well.
Here's the link on Snowcovered and some info:
http://www.snowcovered.com/Snowcovered2/Default.aspx?tabid=242&PackageID=16153

This module is compatible with DNN 4.0.9.3 and above.

Links Professional is a ground-up redesign of the standard DNN Links module. This free, 30-day trial is fully functional, but will expire on 12/05/2009. Check out some of the enhanced features:

  • Enhanced Management console. You can manage a large group of links similarly to the page management screen of DNN.
  • Recycle Bin. No link is ever truly deleted until it is cleared from the Recyle Bin.
  • Link-level permissions. Links may be secured with either allow or deny flags.
  • Collapsible display mode. Links may be displayed as a hierarchical tree of parent and child items.
  • Dropdown display mode. Links will display similarly to the standard links module, but with hierarchical parent-child relationships.
  • Standard display mode. Standard mode mimics the original Links module, but with the added ability to select the number of rows, columns and alignment.
  • Icons. Each link can have an image from the portal as its icon.
  • Templates. The display of the module is fully customizable through altering the standard template in the settings screen.
  • Placeholder Links. Any link can be set to be a “placeholder“ without any URL. This is particularly useful with the collapsible display mode.
  • Standard Links functionality. All of the standard functions, like link tracking and opening in a new window, are implemented.

  • Searchable and portable. This module implements the ISearchable and Iportable interfaces to allow for DNN search integration and for easy exporting of content.

Hi all,

Here's some documentation explaining how the templates work and what tokens are available.

How to use the templates in Links Professional

Both the regular link and placeholder templates take advantage of replaceable keywords. Here's the default values for the regular link template:

<div style="padding-right:5px;padding-left:[PADDING]px;">[EXPANDICON]<a class="Normal" href="[LINK_URL]" target="[LINK_TARGET]">[ICON_IMAGE][TITLE]</a>&nbsp;[EDIT][CHILDREN]</div>

And now here are the default values for the placeholder link template. Notice it lacks a [LINK_URL] token because there will be no URL displayed.

<div style="padding-right:5px;padding-left:[PADDING]px;">[EXPANDICON][ICON_IMAGE][TITLE]&nbsp;[EDIT][CHILDREN]</div>

Each uppercase token enclosed in brackets represents a specific attribute.

[PADDING] – this is the default padding level when hierarchical mode is used. To change this value globally, edit DefaultPaddingMultiplier.Text within the viewer resource file (Links_Professional_View.ascx.resx).

[EXPANDICON] – displays the plus or minus icon with collapsibility when hierarchical mode is used.

[LINK_URL] – the URL location of the link being rendered.

[ICON_IMAGE] – if one is specified for the link, this will display its icon image.

[TITLE] – the title of the link being rendered.

[EDIT] – the edit button that will appear for administrators and module editors.

[CHILDREN] – this token represents a placeholder for all of the current link's children. When this token is parsed, the module will recursively populate all of the link's child links if they exist.
Important – this item needs to be included for the hierarchical display mode to work correctly.

Hello

I have just installed the module and get this message 'This trial build has expired - edit screen is disabled'. DNN Version 05.01.04 (3).

Kind regards
Nicolo

Nicolo, since this is a commercial module, you should try contacting the developer directly.

Hi Nicolo,

I've just uploaded the .zip again, after testing the module on my local test installation. It should expire on the 5th of December. What is your local system date? If for some reason it's past Dec 5th, the module will "cut off". You can just replace the .dll in the bin folder on the zip if you don't want to do a full reinstall. I value your feedback and look forward to a successful official release of Links Professional.

Thanks,

Patrick

P.S. - You can also log a support ticket through Snowcovered if these problems persist. I will be notified immediately and will work with you to fix any issues.
