The time of a post on my forums is showing as 12pm, when I am posting at 9am. I have checked this with a non-host account. and it shows the same thing. Basing all my checks on the non-host account, and starting with these times
Site : -8 (PST)
Forum : -8 (PST)
User : 0
Enable per user time zones = true

I posted at 9:03am, and the forum shows 12:03 pm.

I change the User Time (via the admin control) to -8 (PST).
Time = 12:03pm.

I would like to not use the 'enable per user time zones' so I turn that off here.
Time = 12:03pm.

I change the forum time to -12.
Time = 12:03pm

I change the site time to -9.
Time = 12:03pm
(still 12:03pm after changing stie back to -8)

Change the User time again, not expecting a change;
Time - 12:03pm

I'm not sure what else to try to get these posts showing the right time, the server is on the east coast, and not under my control so I can't adjust its time. Though by a couple other posts mentioning this I saw that the code shouldn't even touch the server time.
I know it works here. I just changed my user time and saw the post times change, but that didn't happen on my forums. I have DNN 3.2.2 installed.

Is there somewhere that I am not looking/changing that could be causing this issue?
Thanks for any pointers.

This may be related to issue 2787. What is the server time zone? I haven't looked at the Forum code, but since the issue I referred to is a core problem, my guess is that the Forum times are related. There are really only 3 times that come into play: server, portal, and user times. The difference between server and portal will cause all times to be wrong.

Wit regard the forums, the only relevant times are the server time - which is what you should set the forum time to. And the user time, which is the offset from forum time to be displayed.

Cheers

Are you saying that the Forums Module completely handles time on its own and doesn't depend on the core time management features? If this is true, then you may be right, but I kind of doubt that. I haven't looked at the code, tho, so I can't guarrantee anything. I just know that the aforementioned link does pose a problem with all times rendered using the UserTime class. I would guess that there are probably other classes that implement this logic incorrectly, too, but haven't looked at any.

All I know is that I set:-

Forum Time to Server Time - my server is US West Coast, so UTC -8
User Time under user settings to my time - I'm in UK, so time is UTC

I also have portal time set to server time (UTC -8). I'm pretty sure this is irrelevant, but I'd have to check the code. I'll have a quick look and see, but Chris should be able to say.

Everything then works for me on both DNN 3 and DNN 4 installations.
