Hello,

Does anyone have any recommendations for modules that provide online registartion and/or online payment?

I'm the website administrator for the Churchill Road Elementary's PTA website (http://www.churchillroadpta.org), which uses DotNetNuke 4.0.9. The previous website administrator setup DotNetNuke and I've been learning about it, including writing modules, in my spare time since last spring. Great tool! However, we've used it mostly for content management so far, but we really need to incorporate online registration for events, after school activities including online payment. I've browsed the Forge and Marketplace some and there looks like there are some modules for integrating with PayPal, but I haven't seen much that would help us with online registration. I'll develop the modules if I need to, but we might as well use existing modules (open source or not) if there is something that fits our needs.

   Regards,

Hi Nathan,

Where are you located? Check out http://www.gobigevent.com. Go Big Event provides a simple online registration solution for events such as conferences, seminars, trade shows, monthly meetings, golf tournaments and trainings. We are a webinar coming up on November 18, 2009 showcasing the software. If you are interested, please email me at sales@gobigevent.com and I will send you more information. I hope this helps.

 HI Nathan

I am working on a similar scenario. I have a private members website and needed to incorporate an e-ticket booking / payment  system and also membership subscription billing..
There are possibilities with the core events module - it can provide enrolment / paypal facilities. Each event can now also have a custom detail page. I am probably going to use custom event pages to link to tickets and subscription in an e-commerce module.
This way you get the user "financial account" and decent records for accounting purposes.  The e-comm from Emerald solutions might work for you.
The Events module has a very strong, helpful and productive dev team - they also release beta's so you can see what's coming.

There is also a popular Events module on Snowcovered. I think this is based on an earlier version of the core module.
I bought a copy some time back and ended up not using it.

 Re Registration.
You can use the DNN membership system to register your people. The restriction is that you can only have one profile or user page and this can be a problem. You also have very limited layout options.
You may wish to register different users to different profile fields.  I use UserAttributes from UCanUse.  It lets you build different profile sets for different users and gives some nice layout options.  Good support from a long time DNN developer.

For my own purposes I am going to use Catalook simply because its stable, flexible and I will not have to change it in a years time when a new feature or method is needed.

Hope this is of some help

 Ian

Thanks Ian! I had not read enough about the Event module to know it could do this. I'll start there. -- Nathan
